Training

Volunteer members of our department enjoy access to a wide range of training opportunities, most of which are free of charge. All recruits are trained to a minimum level of Colorado state certified Firefighter I, Haz-Mat Operations and Emergency Medical Responder.

Additional training in Rescue, Extrication, Firefighter II, and Hazardous Materials is offered on a regular basis.

Morgan Community College offers the opportunity to earn college credit for those Recruits who successfully complete Fire Academy.

Pension Plan

BFPD offers a healthy pension plan to members who serve a minimum of 10 years, or Reserve Firefighters may choose to waive the pension for an annual reimbursement from the district.

S.T.R.I.V.E.

As a Volunteer Firefighter or EMT in the state of Colorado, you are eligible to apply for State Tuition Reimbursement as Incentive for Volunteer Emergency Responders (S.T.R.I.V.E.), which provides up to $5,000 in tuition reimbursement for qualified applicants. These funds can be applied to any field of study, including Fire Science, and immediate family is also allowed to utilize the funds towards their education. Experience

Most importantly, Bennett Fire members gain valuable experience in the fire service and EMS. Our department has been the launching point of many successful careers in public safety, as well as providing career opportunities to numerous reserves who have been promoted to a paid position.
