Training

Volunteer members of our department enjoy access to a wide range of training opportunities, most of which are free of charge. All recruits are trained to a minimum level of Colorado State Certified Firefighter I, Haz-Mat Operations, and Emergency Medical Responder. Additional training in Rescue, Extrication, Firefighter II, and Hazardous Materials is offered on a regular basis. Volunteers who successfully complete our Fire Academy may be able to earn college credits through local community colleges (in accordance with individual school policies).

Experience

Most importantly, Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue members gain valuable experience in the fire service and EMS field. Our department has been the launching point of many successful careers in public safety, as well as providing career opportunities to numerous volunteers who have been promoted to a paid position.
